The worse bloodshed was in Zawiya, 30 miles (50 kilometers) west of the capital Tripoli. An army unit loyal to Gadhafi opened fire with automatic weapons on a mosque where residents — some armed with hunting rifles for protection — have been holding a sit-in to support protesters in the capital, a witness said.

Reflection for 2/11/11
For my own little discussion I posted on my blog, I am required to write a reflection. I can still say that I am undecided. I don't think that I would be fully correct by choosing a side. Everyone can only have their opinion. If I choose a side, I will be defeating the purpose of the First Amendment and show discrimination. Personally, I think if a Christian wanted to build a church near this "hallowed ground" it would not be a huge deal. Or if a Catholic Church was built. I am not saying that Muslims building a mosque is a good idea, knowing that this is sensitive to 9/11 victims and families, but it can be built at a different location.

Since I wasn't in class Friday, my little discussion....
What side to choose? Build the Mosque near Ground Zero or build it somewhere else. "If people put their heads together, maybe we could find a site that's away from the site now but still serves the ... area," Gov. David Paterson states. This would only satisfy Americans and show discrimination. What if Christians wanted to build a church next to Ground Zero? Would it be a problem? And are all Muslims terrorist? Knowing that Ground Zero is a sacred place, it would only be acceptable for the people who died on the day of 9/11. Archbishop Timothy Dolan states, "That would be a noble gesture to those who live in the area who suffered after the attack on this country, and at the same time would probably in many ways change a lot of people's minds about Islam, which is really a peaceful religion practiced by peace-loving people." But I still believe that I am in the middle of the situation. I am undecided. It is a person’s right to have the freedom of practicing their religion. The First Amendment to the United States Constitution is part of the Bill of Rights. It impedes the free exercise of religion, infringing on the freedom of speech, infringing on the freedom of the press, interfering with the right to peaceably assemble or prohibiting the petitioning for a governmental redress of grievances. Not allowing Muslims to build their place of worship anywhere they please would take away their First Amendment. This makes this rule pointless. But then again, isn’t a place of worship a great for that area, but its fine to have strip clubs and liquor stores near to such a sacred area. Blah, Nonsense! Hide your kids, hide your wife! Is there a correct side to this situation? Will it ever be solved?

Reflection on 1-29-10
Okay, blah! everyone is required to write a reflection of our class discussion. So now i am writing it. Period 2 and all of Mr. Palo's American Government classes had a class discussion, but it was more like a debate that never had a correct side to it. I really enjoyed the discussion, but I will tell you this, I wasnt able to speak as much as I would have liked to. But I wasn't a person that Mr. Palo had to call out. Thankfully. The class discussion was on healthcare, one heck of a broad subject, and many people had plenty of things to say about it. Is universal healthcare the way to go? To be honest, only time will tell. Change doesn't happen overnight, and please believe many American want things to happen now. And when i say NOW, i mean it! Unfortunately I really don't remeber everything that was stated, but I do know that i will be prepeared for the next one. So Palo and my fellow classmates, LET'S GO! Or as Trey Songz would say, "LEGGO!"
